Simple subject matter demonstrates the power of the isolated image. Drawn from life: a blackthorn tree; a blackbird; a wild iris by the beck; a series of still life pictures celebrating the timeless geometry of companionable objects found in an artist’s studio. Other sequences of prints are drawn from imagination and explore imagined narratives.
Alan Turnbull is the author of Who Shot Van Gogh, a creative exploration of the life & afterlife of Vincent Van Gogh published by Thames & Hudson, 2022
